FAQ

Is Breathedge 2 out yet?
Yes. Breathedge 2 entered Steam Early Access on August 31, 2026 at 15:00 UTC, at a base price of $19.99 — the 20% introductory discount ended on September 12, 2026. It is a Windows PC release; a PlayStation 5 version has been announced for later.
Will the price go up after launch?
Yes. RedRuins has stated the Early Access price is the lowest the game will ever cost and that it will definitely rise as major updates are released — though they do not plan to make it an expensive game.
Is there a demo I can try first?
Not anymore. A demo ran during Steam Next Fest in February 2025, but it has since been delisted. Buying into Early Access is currently the only way to play.

When did Breathedge 2 launch?

Breathedge 2 went live on Steam Early Access on August 31, 2026, at 15:00 UTC. The August 31 date was announced ahead of launch — publisher press materials confirmed it in early August — and the launch build went out alongside a launch announcement confirming the game was playable immediately.

A few launch-window facts worth knowing:

  • Platform: Windows PC only at launch (64-bit Windows 10/11). A PlayStation 5 version has been announced for later, but there is no date yet.
  • Wishlist momentum: over 480,000 wishlists at launch — against roughly 30,000 for the original Breathedge’s own Early Access debut.
  • Reception: “Very Positive” on Steam in the first week, around 85% of more than 1,100 reviews.
  • Concurrent players: an all-time peak of 5,019 on September 1, per SteamDB.

The launch discount ran for about two weeks and ended on September 12, 2026 — the price has been back at $19.99 since (verified via Steam’s price API on September 14).

How much does it cost?

The base price is $19.99. The 20% introductory offer ($15.99) ended on September 12, 2026, and the game sells at full price again. Regional pricing applies elsewhere.

More important is the pricing trajectory. In the Early Access Q&A on the store page, RedRuins said:

“We haven’t decided on the exact final price yet, but we definitely plan to raise it as major updates are released. We don’t plan to make Breathedge 2 an expensive game, but the lowest price will be available at the start of Early Access.”

In other words: buying during Early Access is explicitly the cheapest this game will ever be. The Early Access roadmap guide covers what your money gets you today and what arrives for free later.

What shipped on day one

The Early Access build contains the complete first story chapter — the store page describes it as “the first major story chapter with numerous locations, activities, enemies, and storyline moments,” and calls the current version fully playable.

Beyond the story content:

  • 39 achievements, and they are not just badges — each one grants a small permanent stat bonus (extra max health, oxygen, flight speed, and similar upgrades).
  • Steam Trading Cards, added shortly after launch in hotfix 0.8.6.
  • Full controller support, Steam Cloud saves, and Family Sharing.

If you are weighing the purchase, the multiplayer status guide settles the co-op question, and the system requirements guide tells you whether your PC clears the bar — the minimum is a GTX 1660 with 12 GB of RAM.

The launch-window hotfixes

RedRuins shipped five hotfixes in the first two weeks, which tells you the cadence this Early Access is likely to keep: physics and quest-blocker fixes, a 15% reduction to food/water/fatigue drain in standard mode (0.8.6), tightened tool rules for the crowbar (0.8.7–0.8.8), an Intel Core Ultra crash fix (0.8.8), and a full re-record of the Suit’s English voiceover (0.8.9). The item-by-item changelog, with links to each official Steam post, lives in the patch notes tracker.

Known issues still without a claimed fix as of 0.8.9: AZERTY keyboard layouts and some PS-style gamepads not being detected (both listed in the 0.8.5 notes). The in-game bug reporter (Esc → Report a Bug) lets you attach a save file directly.

What comes next

RedRuins estimates 16 to 20 months of Early Access. Every update during that period will be free, and the full release will add more chapters with new locations, characters, enemies, and storyline twists. The how-long guide breaks down what that means for the content you get today, and the getting started guide gets you through your first hour in one piece.
