Breathedge 2 Fast Travel: How Zone Transit Actually Works
Breathedge 2 has no map-button fast travel. The real transit system is the ZAZ-1, transportation platforms between zones, and disciplined EVA hops.
FAQ
Is there fast travel in Breathedge 2?
What are transportation platforms in Breathedge 2?
Will warp jumps be added to Breathedge 2?
Does Breathedge 2 have fast travel?
No — and that’s the design. There is no teleport menu, no clicking a discovered point on a map, no warp-to-base. The developers describe the philosophy plainly: this is meant to be a journey through space, not a loading screen simulator. Distance, route planning, and the oxygen budget that comes with them are the game’s difficulty curve, and fast travel would delete it.
So the useful question isn’t “where’s the fast travel button” — it’s “what does the game give me instead.” The answer is a three-tier transit system that you upgrade into over a playthrough.
What actually replaces fast travel?
Two systems, one per phase of the game:
- EVA thrusters (from minute one). Your suit is the baseline vehicle — short bursts, direct oxygen cost, every meter out is a meter back. Early on, all transit is EVA transit, which is why the beginner guide makes route planning a day-one habit.
- The ZAZ-1 spacecraft (the real upgrade). Once built, the miniature spacecraft becomes the functional equivalent of fast travel: effectively unlimited pilot oxygen, an arm that grabs salvage without leaving the cabin, and far more speed than a suit. It still isn’t instant — you launch, navigate, and land — but it converts long routes from survival problems into commutes. The full unlock chain is in the ZAZ-1 guide.

How do transportation platforms work?
Transportation platforms are the zone-to-zone layer: automatic gates that sit between major zones, usually near station entrances and landmarks. Approach in a vehicle and the gate opens, transit happens, the gate closes behind you.
Three rules to fly by:
- Small vehicles only. The platforms handle small craft — they are not built for large spacecraft.
- They break down. A dead platform blocks its route until repaired. Keep Metal, Electronics, and Wire in the vehicle — the standard platform repair kit (all three are mapped in the materials guide).
- They’re part of route planning, not a shortcut. A broken platform mid-route can add a long detour; check your alternates before you commit to a deep run through Chapter 1’s zones.
When should I EVA, and when should I fly?
The practical hierarchy that falls out of the systems above:
| Distance | Best option | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Under ~100 m | EVA thrusters | Suit-up time and parking beat the detour |
| 100–500 m | EVA + oxygen chaining | Hop between refill waypoints — stations, Oxyworm nests |
| Over ~500 m | ZAZ-1 | Pilot oxygen is free; the route stops costing air |
| Zone to zone | Transportation platforms | The only sanctioned way across the big gates |
Two modifiers worth knowing:
- Overloaded backpacks cut your boost efficiency — deposit cargo before a long EVA chain. Your suit thanks you, your route time thanks you.
- Zone types matter. Safe zones carry refill points; transit zones are moderate risk (coffinbots have been reported appearing in them during ZAZ-1 flights); hazard zones are pass-quickly-or-go-around. The chapter 1 map is the reference for which is which.
Do warp jumps come later?
On the 1.0 roadmap, yes — in Early Access, no. Warp jumps, planetary surface travel, and personal spacecraft beyond the ZAZ-1 are all announced directions for the finished game. The Early Access timeline (an estimated 16–20 months of chapters and vehicles) is the delivery window for everything between here and there.
Until a patch note says otherwise: the ZAZ-1 is the top of the transit food chain, and the platforms are its highway system.
