FAQ
How do recipes unlock in Breathedge 2?
What is Electrical Tape used for?
Will the recipe list grow during Early Access?
How does crafting work?
Open the crafting menu with the C key and build anything you have the materials for — there’s no separate crafting station for basic recipes; your powered-up train acts as the crafting hub. Resources come from salvaging the environment: Metal, Aluminum, Plastic, Wires, Duct Tape, Fabric, Alcohol, Ice, Nutriworm, Oxyworm, Refined Metal, Rubber, Glass, Light Bulbs, Titanium, and Electric Tape.
Which tools should I craft first?
Craft all three starting tools immediately — they’re cheap and each one harvests something the others can’t:
| Tool | Unlock | Ingredients |
|---|---|---|
| Crowbar | Default | 2× Metal |
| Cutter | Default | 4× Aluminum, 2× Plastic, 4× Metal |
| Thumper | Default | 4× Metal, 2× Plastic |
The Cutter is the priority: it extracts the Cardboard and Foam you need for 100 Cold Protection. The Crowbar doubles as your melee weapon — see the beginner guide for where it fits into the first 30 minutes.
What unlocks after the Three Antennas quest?
The Twister — the fourth harvesting tool — unlocks when you finish the Three Antennas quest chain in the Outskirts. It costs 4× Aluminum, 2× Wires, 3× Duct Tape, and 2× Plastic. Quest progression details are in the locations guide.
Which consumables matter early?
Two consumables stand out in Chapter 1, and both unlock by ingredient pickup:
| Item | Unlock trigger | Ingredients | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Purified Oxygen | First Oxyworm pickup | 2× Oxyworm, 1× Metal, 1× Ice | Portable oxygen — your base tank is small and terminals need Ice |
| Medkit | First Fabric pickup | 1× Alcohol, 2× Fabric | Healing for the damage the environment and parasites deal |
| Alcohol | First Alcohol pickup | 2× Ice, 1× Nutriworm | Medkit ingredient; brew your own |
| Gas Tank | First Refined Metal pickup | 4× Wires, 2× Refined Metal, 2× Rubber, 4× Aluminum | Mid-chapter equipment component |
| Flashlight | First Light Bulb pickup | 2× Wires, 2× Plastic, 2× Glass, 1× Light Bulb | Lighting for dark interiors |
| Backpack | First Painted Corpse pickup | 4× Aluminum, 2× Plastic, 4× Titanium, 4× Electric Tape | Carry capacity — the biggest quality-of-life jump |
Which tool upgrades exist?
Build 0.8 ships five named tool upgrades. None are mandatory for Chapter 1, but the damage upgrades speed up harvesting noticeably:
| Tool | Upgrade | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Crowbar | Gear Heft | Damage +10 |
| Cutter | Scissors Sharp | Damage +5 |
| Thumper | Scissors Sharp | Damage +12 |
| Kettle | Foam Protection | Processing +0.5 |
| Nutri-Pack-O-Mat | Plastic Barrel Capacious | Capacity +50 |
