How many tools are in Breathedge 2?
Four harvesting tools exist in Early Access build 0.8: the Crowbar, Cutter, Thumper, and Twister. Three of them are unlocked from the moment you can craft — only the Twister is gated behind story progress. Every tool is crafted from the crafting menu (the C key); there is no separate workbench.
What does each tool cost?
| Tool | Unlock | Ingredients |
|---|---|---|
| Crowbar | Default | 2× Metal |
| Cutter | Default | 4× Aluminum, 2× Plastic, 4× Metal |
| Thumper | Default | 4× Metal, 2× Plastic |
| Twister | Finish the Three Antennas quest | 4× Aluminum, 2× Wires, 3× Duct Tape, 2× Plastic |
The Cutter deserves first priority: it extracts the Cardboard and Foam you need to patch your suit toward 100 Cold Protection. The Crowbar doubles as your melee weapon, so it never becomes dead weight. The beginner guide slots all three crafts into the first 30 minutes.
How do I unlock the Twister?
Finish the Three Antennas quest chain — repairing the station antenna, the hand-built beacon, and the old government probe in the Outskirts. Completing it triggers New Coordinates Detected and adds the Twister to the crafting menu. The full route, including the Collect Antenna Debris objective, is in the Three Antennas walkthrough.
Which tool upgrades exist?
Build 0.8 also ships five named tool upgrades, and they apply across every craftable tool — the Kettle and Nutri-Pack-O-Mat included, not just the four harvesters. None are mandatory for Chapter 1, but the damage upgrades speed up harvesting noticeably:
| Tool | Upgrade | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Crowbar | Gear Heft | Damage +10 |
| Cutter | Scissors Sharp | Damage +5 |
| Thumper | Scissors Sharp | Damage +12 |
| Kettle | Foam Protection | Processing +0.5 |
| Nutri-Pack-O-Mat | Plastic Barrel Capacious | Capacity +50 |
Upgrades are the only place tool investing matters early — the tools themselves are one-time crafts, and their ingredient costs are trivial compared to equipment like the Backpack.
