How does oxygen work in Breathedge 2?
Your suit carries 600 oxygen (600/600 on the HUD), and every trip spends it twice — once going out, once coming back. Oxygen refills come from four sources, unlocked roughly in this order:
- The on-board oxygen machine — inside your train, and it only works once the train has power. Feeding it Ice refills your suit; without power, nothing refills your air. Full power-up steps in the train power guide.
- The Public Oxygen Station — the first world-side station, in the Outskirts (see below).
- Oxyworm nests — found farther from the train as you push toward the Depot; interacting with one can refill your suit where you stand.
- Purified Oxygen — a craftable consumable that restores 120 oxygen.
How do I repair the Public Oxygen Station?
Once the early Outskirts systems start thawing, the Public Oxygen Station becomes repairable with 3 Metal, 2 Electronics, 1 Wire, and 3 Electrical Tape. Gather the full set before the trip — Electronics and Electrical Tape get spent quickly on nearby machinery, and Electrical Tape is already in demand for train repairs.
The station’s real value is routing, not capacity: it lets you build trips around an external refill instead of flying home to the train every time. It is most valuable when several objectives cluster in one map area — and it still relies on Ice, so keep some unprocessed.
What is Purified Oxygen and when do I use it?
Purified Oxygen is a craftable canister — 2 Oxyworm, 1 Metal, 1 Ice — that restores 120 oxygen. The recipe unlocks the first time you pick up an Oxyworm. Because it consumes Metal and Ice, stockpiling is limited; treat it as insurance for the uncertain part of a trip — circling for an entrance, hunting quest items, exploring an interior — not as routine fuel for runs along a known route.
How do I plan trips without running dry?
The launch-week frame that works: reaching the objective is only the outbound cost. The search after arrival — finding entrances, rooms, quest items, wrong-direction approaches — can dominate your oxygen use. So before an unfamiliar trip, name your next refill source (station, nest, or carried Purified Oxygen). If you cannot, treat the full 600 as a round-trip budget and turn back when arrival leaves only enough air to get home.
