What changed in each patch?
Each section below summarizes the official patch notes; the version numbers link to the original Steam posts.
Hotfix 0.8.5 — physics, doors, and quest markers (September 1)
- Gravity and physics: the yellow training dummy no longer keeps floating in space after being carried out of a gravity zone — gravity now switches off correctly — and the protagonist’s items no longer fall through his model when he dies inside a gravity zone.
- Doors: single and double doors now react to carried physics objects (anime figurine, mattress, and the like), so items no longer get stuck in doorways; the train doors’ activation range was increased, so they start opening earlier; and the incorrect wrench icon was removed from double doors.
- Quest fixes: clay balls can no longer get stuck inside already-installed parts of the clay statue — once a part is placed in a slot, that slot locks for further pieces, and an extra check was added so existing save files are not broken; repairing the Zarya shuttle antenna no longer leaves the character stuck; and the “Repair the speaker” quest markers now work correctly — the speaker is highlighted on the HUD during the repair stage, and the marker was moved to the oxygen terminal instead of the station hatch.
- Controls: controls no longer get stuck when clicking the train lamp from a certain angle — the camera is no longer locked to horizontal rotation only.
- Known issue listed in the notes: AZERTY keyboard layouts are not detected yet, and the developers said a fix would come in one of the upcoming updates. No patch through 0.8.11 mentions it again.
Hotfix 0.8.6 — survival balance pass (September 2)
- Balance: food, water, and fatigue drain reduced by 15% in standard mode. If launch-week videos made the meters look brutal, they are calmer now — the food and water guide reflects the current rates.
- Fixed DIY upgrade stats resetting when upgraded again (durability and the like no longer drop back to base values).
- Fixed a settings lock when changing gamepad options.
- Quest fixes: the battery-installation quest on the hatch now accepts a battery of any level; knocking ice off the 10G antenna counts correctly; the station door no longer stays iced over.
- Steam Trading Cards went live.
Hotfix 0.8.7 — doors, saves, and dismantling rules (September 4)
- Fixed the 5120×1440 ultrawide resolution resetting to 3840×1080.
- Reworked door open/close logic for multiple objects — including the case of body parts getting stuck in them.
- Save integrity: it was possible to save at the very end of the shuttle flight, before the character got up from the couch — loading such a save broke the game and left the character stuck, so saving is now only available after fully exiting the flight scene. The detachable yoke at the depot could also break saving and loading; that is fixed.
- About broken saves: the developers received reports of saves not working after the update, with the character falling through the world. They checked every save that was sent to them and all of them load correctly on their end — if you hit this, write to them at info@breathedge.com so they can look into it properly.
- Fixed the mechanics of the Attendant (the side-quest robot from the attendant quest).
- Dismantling rules: the train crate, lamp shades, robots, and doors can now only be unscrewed with the Twister — the crowbar no longer works on them.
- Clarified the taxi letters: they are scattered within a 20-meter radius of the Chuck’s Taxi sign — that is the intended placement, not a bug.
- Added a marker to the grate in the Pornhubble so it no longer has to be hunted for in debug.
Hotfix 0.8.8 — the quest-blocker sweep (September 9)
- Alt + Enter toggles fullscreen again.
- Quest blockers fixed: getting stuck while installing the loudspeaker on the station roof; ice on the Zarya engines and the starter handle; a quest in the WTF area not advancing after collecting 5 larvae; knocking ice off the taxi-complex pump; the intercom quest not starting if the battery was installed on the roof; getting stuck near the “Police” sign; getting stuck in the signal jammer when the WTF spat you out.
- Save fixes: the station chief’s head no longer disappears from the save after his body explodes; the intro no longer locks saving behind unmet conditions — saving in the starting scene works from the moment the kid leaves your train car.
- More crowbar restrictions: the grate inside the Pornhubble can now only be broken with the cutter, and the train door with the coffinbot and the drillers’ round door now require the screwdriver.
- Pitpackomats no longer shift around while you are using them.
- Crash fix: crashes on Intel Core Ultra processors (Core Ultra 5/7/9 H/HX) traced to an outdated Intel AI Boost driver.
Hotfix 0.8.9 — the Suit speaks again (September 13)
- The Suit’s English voiceover has been fully re-recorded and replaced, with the actor who voiced the first part of the game. The developers’ reasoning from the notes: the game’s humor is written and voiced in Russian first — the Suit carries it — so the English track got a second pass. Russian audio is unchanged; see the language support guide.
- Fixed errors in the encyclopedia texts, including broken hyperlinks.
- Improved Steam Deck optimization.
- Fixed the counting of the dummy in the lockers and the marker on the chief’s head after his body explodes.
Patch 0.8.10 — the stuck-spot sweep (September 23)
The first patch after the hotfix streak drops the “Hotfix” prefix — the official notes simply title it “0.8.10 — Patch Notes”.
- Movement penalties eased: the fatigue, overeating, and overload debuffs slow you down less than before.
- Getting-stuck fixes: while installing Station Caretaker parts (the character now gets pushed up and out), while installing antenna parts, in the niche of Chuck’s taxi, and in the white toilet door — which also no longer shifts position after loading.
- Quest fixes: the mud statue now displays three markers that vanish as the sculpture gets completed, and the mud ball’s trajectory aims at the sculpture’s center rather than its head; the snowman quest no longer counts a carrot and a cigarette as its nose at the same time — only one nose item counts.
- Encyclopedia and UI: the fried worm is properly listed as food with its own encyclopedia entry, examining a collectible jumps straight to its entry, resistances show up in the character window again, the journal scrollbar appears from 5 tasks (it only showed at 6), sleep can be interrupted with Esc or the gamepad Cancel button, and the Steam Deck buttons no longer need the right trackpad.
- Misc: moles no longer respawn after being destroyed, training dummy collisions improved, and the taxi-sign letters now place correctly in Latin American Spanish.
Patch 0.8.11 — quest counters and dialogue safety (September 29)
- Dialogue fixes: dying during an active dialogue no longer blocks progression, and dying during the signal jammer dialogue no longer replays it with the processing effect afterwards; the Baby’s dialogue when activating the relax room now starts with a delay instead of immediately.
- Quest fixes: 10g antenna petals now count toward the quest once they are opened 80%; on Easy difficulty, the quest to raise cold resistance to 100 now completes at 100 (previously it would not complete until you reached 130); the station wire-plugging quest works; the taxi inspection quest can no longer be completed by repeatedly opening and closing the same element; the resource display for repairing the 10g antenna hinge shows the correct amounts; and flying far away from the engine right as it explodes now counts toward the quest.
- Items and interface: leaving the recycler processing food and going to sleep now speeds up the processing; the crowbar’s bone handle updates visually when broken or replaced, no crafting-bench visit required; splitting an item stack updates the quick-access slot display; and debuff statuses show on the panel again after loading a save.
- Other: cop robots now respawn after being killed.
Which changes matter for your playthrough?
Several of these patches change how the game actually plays, beyond bug cleanup:
- Survival math (0.8.6 + 0.8.10). The −15% drain cut applies to standard mode only, and 0.8.10 additionally eased the movement slowdowns from the fatigue, overeating, and overload debuffs. If you are planning food and water logistics around launch-week videos or reviews, those numbers are stale — current guidance lives in the food and water guide.
- Tool rules (0.8.7 + 0.8.8). The crowbar is no longer a universal skeleton key: the train crate, lamp shades, robots, and doors went Twister-only, then the Pornhubble grate went cutter-only and two story doors went screwdriver-only. If an object refuses your crowbar, that is the rule working — the tools guide covers which tool to build first.
- Performance and platforms (0.8.8 + 0.8.9). The Intel Core Ultra crash fix matters if you are on a Meteor Lake laptop, and 0.8.9’s Steam Deck pass improves the Verified experience — the system requirements guide tracks both.
Do old saves still work?
Yes — hotfixes do not reset progress, and Steam Cloud keeps the same folder in sync throughout (details in the save file guide). The caveat worth knowing: since 0.8.7, saving is only possible after you have fully exited a flight scene. And if a save acts up after updating, the developers’ own advice from those patch notes is to send it in — they checked every save sent to them and found them all loading correctly. Verify the game files first and use the in-game bug reporter.
How do you report a bug?
In game: Esc → Report a Bug. The reporter can attach your save file directly, which is exactly what the developers ask for. By email: info@breathedge.com. The launch announcement asked players to prefer the in-game tool over Steam forums — attached saves make hotfixes faster, and the first two weeks showed how fast that can be.
