Breathedge 2 Chapter 1 Walkthrough: The Full Story Route in Order

FAQ

What order should I play Breathedge 2 Chapter 1 in?
Patch the window, power the train, complete the Three Antennas quest, then handle Outskirts side quests while building Cold Protection to 100. That opens the cold gate to the Depot, where the story runs through the cryogel route and the signal-jammer facility to the Chapter 1 ending.
How long is Chapter 1?
No fixed number — the main chain is compact, but the region rewards slow exploration, and the side content pads it. The how-long guide covers exactly what is in the game today and how Early Access will grow it.
Is Chapter 1 all there is in Early Access right now?
Yes. The August 31, 2026 launch build contains the complete first story chapter plus one large exploration region. Further chapters arrive as free updates across the 16–20 month Early Access roadmap.
Can I do the side quests after beating the ending?
Yes — the ending locks nothing. All 16 side quests, 50 collectibles, and 39 achievements stay available after the final transmission, so nothing in Chapter 1 is missable.
What gates progress through the route?
Three gates: train power (activates oxygen, crafting, and storage), the Twister tool unlocked by the Three Antennas quest, and 100 Cold Protection at the Wardrobe — the cold gate into the Depot will not let you through below it.

What is the full Chapter 1 route?

Chapter 1 is the entire Breathedge 2 Early Access story so far: one exploration region, one main chain, six stages. The route below lists every story objective in order, and each stage links out to the step-by-step guide with exact parts, locations, and rewards. Side quests never gate the story — slot them in wherever you want, or clear them after the ending.

Before you start: the systems that keep you alive

Two meters decide every trip: oxygen (your suit holds 600, the train’s Ice-fed machine refills it) and food and water. Your first three tools — Crowbar, Cutter, Thumper — come from the crafting menu, and the beginner mistakes guide is worth one read before your first long EVA.

Step 1 — survive the opening minutes

The first objective after the intro is the cracked train window. Craft your starting tools, gather Plastic and Aluminum for them, then pick up Cardboard or Foam from the cut wreckage and seal the leak. Either material stops the oxygen drain and grants level-1 protection — the choice barely matters, so take what is closest.

Step 2 — power the crashed train

Your first real job: powering the train. Follow the wiring outside, retrieve the battery, and install it in the External Module — the first landmark outside your wreck. Power thaws the frozen systems and turns the train into your base: on-board oxygen machine, crafting, and storage all come online, and failed runs become recoveries instead of resets.

Step 3 — the Three Antennas and the Twister

With the train alive, the story’s first main quest opens. Repair the Interphone for Babe, then fix three receivers — the damaged station antenna, a hand-built beacon, and an old government probe — collecting antenna debris along the way. Finishing the chain fires the “New Coordinates Detected” objective and unlocks the Twister, the fourth harvesting tool (4× Aluminum, 2× Wires, 3× Duct Tape, 2× Plastic at the crafting menu).

Step 4 — the Outskirts side-quest window

The antenna trips take you past most of the map, which makes this the natural window for the 16 optional jobs. The five big repair chains: the Attendant pays +2 Physical Protection, the Snowman +5 Cold Protection, the Leader’s Statue +20 Gas Reserve, the Foreman’s safety test rewards picking his burned-out-cynic answers, and Chuck’s Taxi pays Thirst Drain −5% plus the BEER blueprint. The full 16-quest table lists every job with its location and reward.

None of them gate the story, and all of them still work after the ending — but their permanent stat bonuses make the rest of the chapter easier, so this is the best time.

Step 5 — 100 Cold Protection and the cold gate

The coordinates from the antennas point across a cold wreckage belt, and the game checks your suit at the gate: 100 Cold Protection, raised at the Wardrobe inside your train by patching Cardboard, Foam, and Teddy Bears onto it. Cardboard alone is your no-debuff baseline; Foam and Teddy Bears top you up past the gate. Past 100, stop farming — the chapter asks for no higher number.

Step 6 — the Depot and the road to the jammer

Across the gate the region becomes the frozen DEPOT, where the environmental goal flips to warming: repair the Service Warmers to raise ambient temperature. Somewhere in this stretch — earlier if you beeline — build the ZAZ-1: the two-seat miniature spacecraft whose pilot breathes for free. Its first blueprint fragment sits beneath the Mayo Ship.

The story then narrows onto a jammed signal. The signal jammer walkthrough covers the whole finale chain — three triangulating readings, the facility gauntlet, the alkaline-solution shuttle ride — and ends at the Chapter 1 ending: retrieve the jammer, strike the green sensor with the crowbar, and watch the final transmission roll.

How long does the full route take?

There is no fixed number. The main chain is compact; the region is dense — wreck salvage, Oxyworm nests, and cold zones reward slow exploration — and the side content pads it further. The how-long guide breaks down what is in the build today, and the Early Access roadmap covers how it grows from here.
