FAQ

Where is the Wardrobe in Breathedge 2?
On your train — the fixture opposite the vending machine. All suit patching happens there; the cold protection guide walks through the full process material by material.
Should I use Teddy Bears for cold protection?
Only as a top-up. Teddy Bears give the highest cold resistance of the three early materials but weaken your armor against incoming attacks. Cardboard has no debuff, making it the best baseline; combine cardboard with a few foam pieces or a teddy bear to cross 100.
Do suit modules stack across slots?
Yes — suit upgrades are fit as Protective DIY modules into separate torso, arm, and leg slots, each carrying its own cold and damage protection values. Totals add up on the suit stat panel.

How do I upgrade my suit?

All suit work happens at the Wardrobe inside the train — the fixture opposite the vending machine. Two systems upgrade you there: patching the suit with insulation materials for Cold Protection, and fitting Protective DIY modules into the suit’s torso, arm, and leg slots. Armor pieces also drop in the world and can be applied to your character directly.

How do I reach 100 Cold Protection?

One hundred is the only threshold Chapter 1 asks for — the gate to the colder wreckage and the Depot. Three materials patch cold protection in the early areas, all harvested with the Cutter: Cardboard (no debuff — your baseline), Foam, and Teddy Bears (the strongest insulation, but they weaken your armor). Cardboard alone cannot reach 100. The full material math, the slot system, and the step-by-step patching process live in the cold protection guide.

What are Protective DIY modules?

DIY modules are the suit’s slot system: torso, arm, and leg slots each carry a module with its own cold and protection values. This is why the material choice matters beyond the raw number — Teddy Bear patches trade armor for warmth, and module slots let you balance the two per body zone as you find better modules in the world.

Which upgrades should I prioritize?

The community craft order for Early Access week one, in sequence:

  1. Oxygen range — your base oxygen supply is limited; oxygen terminals need Ice loaded before they’ll refill you, so every extra meter of range compounds into longer salvage loops
  2. Carry capacity — the Backpack (4× Aluminum, 2× Plastic, 4× Titanium, 4× Electric Tape) is the single biggest quality-of-life jump; ingredient details in the crafting guide
  3. Armor and thermal — balance the two at the Wardrobe once the Depot’s colder zones start punishing both

Which tool upgrades exist?

Five named tool upgrades ship in Early Access build 0.8: damage tiers for the Crowbar, Cutter, and Thumper, plus processing and capacity upgrades for the Kettle and Nutri-Pack-O-Mat. None are required for Chapter 1, but the damage tiers speed up harvesting noticeably — the full table with exact effects lives in the crafting guide.
